Three Years of Bloodshot Eyes

It has been a little over three years since I launched the site Bloodshot Eyes gaming website and it has been a journey in its own.

When I started the site I had people excited about the idea of a site where we could post updates and tips about the games we were playing and how we could help others get the most from their favorite games. Tips and tricks mostly along with the standard reviews. It really all stemmed from by Tech Blog that has been rather positive for me and I have received a good feedback from the post I have made there. So it seemed obvious to make the same thing only for gaming.

What I didn't realize at the time was that my tech blog's "success" was developed over time and the posts I have made where made only occasionally when I had experienced the issue myself and no other site existed with a easy solution. This is what my tech blog did. Defined the problem and provide the tested solution.

When it came to doing the same this for gaming, a few things were realized and it was hard thing to get going. I found that when I was playing games and had any issues, I wasn't concerned about documenting the solution, I just wanted to get back to gaming. And that was another thing. Due to work commitments, finding to time play game was often limited to weekends and I wasn't thinking about blogging.

Since then I have turned Bloodshot Eyes into a site where it was all about gaming. Not focused on tips, but news and other gaming topics that took my interested. My vision for the site becoming a community I have realized would need a lot of full-time commitment which I don't have the time for. Doing Twitch streaming under the brand would require a schedule if I was to be able to gain any viewers is something I can't commit to.

So what's the purpose?

I love gaming. I love discussing it and I love sharing. So that is what I will continue to do no matter how little the audience may be. I will continue to make posts about the industry and the products we are getting out of it and what we hope to see in the future.

Gaming is bigger than what a lot of people see it as and I would like to be apart of it. And this is it. My site. Bloodshot Eyes. And as it grows, I hope that my friends continue to find an interest to help contribute to its growth.

Gaming for the Kids

Bloodshot eyes have a team who are on a mission to save kids through video games, and we need your help.

Can you spare a little time on October 20^th to game in honour of sick kids and raise some much needed funds for research and treatments?

If not, can you spare a couple of dollars to donate to a worthy cause? If not, can you at least head over to out facebook page and give us a “like”.

Our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital, is Westmead Hospital in Sydney, where thousands of children are treated each year, regardless of their family's ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.

Last year, Extra Life raised more than 1.2 million dollars to save kids, but in 2012 our goals, just like the needs of the kids we serve, are much, much higher.

Our team captain, Petria Follett (bodgie sparkle) will be pledging a full 24 hours and will be live tweeting throughout the day from @bodgiesparkle.

Plans for the site

Over the coming weeks I am aiming to build and improve this template into what will hopefully be a successful website for new and improving gamers everywhere.

Site Goal

I am for this site to be a friendly and reliable site where gamers of ALL experiences can come and gain help and advise from  others regarding their favourite games.

Starting with myself, I will aim to write article and guides for the games I play, and later invite some other to come and help write with me to build the ORIGINAL content on this site.

ORIGINAL Content

Any site and watch YouTube clips and repost, but how many sites take the effort to go and get the tips first hand? With Bloodshot Eyes [BSE], my goal is to create content that can be found no where else on the net. While sharing is encouraged, all content here will be original.

Audience participation

In a world where everything is increasingly becoming more and more social, it will be bad for any new website to ignore that. BSE will encourage those to make suggestions, ask for help and also to provide answers for other players.

An email, twitter and facebook account will be created in the name of this website and through these networks, we aim to share ideas and help others with their gaming experience.

We will also have a forum to allow gamers to ask and answer questions in a friendly, open environment.

Mobile Access

Since gaming is taking on the mobile device is more and more it would be a mistake to ignore these platforms. We aim to have a form of this site available for mobile browsers as well as content regarding the games on these devices also.
