Skyrim - Fixing the Marriage Glitch Temple of Mara

In the Temple of Mara, you can marry someone from the world of Skyrim.

For more information on this see here: Marriage (Skyrim) | Elder Scrolls | Fandom

Bloodshoteyes.net - Skyrim Temple of Mara

Issue

When you propose to someone, you go back to the temple to arrange the marriage with Maramal. He will tell you to come back the next day.

When you show up though, the ceremony is glitched and nothing is happening. Maramal doesn't recognise that the ceremony should be on and the ceremony itself doesn't trigger.

For me, after arranging the ceremony I simply waited in the Temple until the next day. Nothing I did would trigger it. I left the Temple and came back in waited until midday. Nothing.

So this is what I did to fix it.

Solution

Note: This has only been tested on PC. Console players might have another solution.

  1. Move to outside the Church
  2. Open the Console (Press `)
  3. Type the following:
setstage relationshipmarriagewedding 10

This will force Skyrim to setup the marriage "stage" and when you reenter the church the scene will trigger and perform perfectly.

Skyrim - Starting Wagon Glitch Limit FPS / Enable V-Sync

You know what, it's been a while. Why not boot up some Skyrim and have another go at that game. So I did. Downloaded the game (11GB doesn't seem so bad anymore), max'ed out Graphics Settings and started the game.

I decided I would start a new game and character seeing as though it's been a while since I last played. But my problems immediately started there.

Starting Wagon Glitch

When you start the game and you're riding in the back of the wagon on your way to your execution, you find that the horse, wagon and everything is flying in every direction. Just a horrific spectacle of object crashing into each other and nauseating POV sinning.

Here's a video of my third experience when I recorded it.

The Issue

So after some Googling, I found that this glitch is related to the game's engine and it's inability to handle high framerates. I was running the game at 145 fps (average) on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER. The idea is to limit your frames to no more than 60 fps.

Limiting Your Framerate

On PC, there's no real setting in the software to limit your frames. Also in most cases, your DO have V-Sync enabled already but most gaming monitors now are sync'd to be more than 60 FPS. So here is how I did it.

  1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel
  2. Go to 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings

Here we are going to use the software to limit Skyrim to 60 fps.
  1. Go to Program Settings tab
  2. Add Skyrim (if you can't see it in the drop down)
  3. Go to the setting Max Frame Rate and set it to 60 FPS
  4. Click Apply at the bottom
  5. Start your game a test

Logitech G710+ Keyboard Backlight Keeps Turning Off

Only a small issue back it took me a while to figure out what was happening.

While I was playing PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds [PUBG], the back light on the keyboard kept turning off. Any attempt to turn it back on would immediately turn off again.

This appeared to only occur when I had the Logitech Gaming Software utility installed.

Digging around the internet, there didn't seem to be much of a solution but one.

How to disable Illumination Control

Open the Logitech Gaming Software

Go to Settings

Untick "Allow games to control illumination"

Click OK

I couldn't find any better settings in the software to control what the lighting did specifically during each game or in PUBG. Hopefully, Logitech will one day update their software to allow better more customized control for this keyboard.

Three Years of Bloodshot Eyes

It has been a little over three years since I launched the site Bloodshot Eyes gaming website and it has been a journey in its own.

When I started the site I had people excited about the idea of a site where we could post updates and tips about the games we were playing and how we could help others get the most from their favorite games. Tips and tricks mostly along with the standard reviews. It really all stemmed from by Tech Blog that has been rather positive for me and I have received a good feedback from the post I have made there. So it seemed obvious to make the same thing only for gaming.

What I didn't realize at the time was that my tech blog's "success" was developed over time and the posts I have made where made only occasionally when I had experienced the issue myself and no other site existed with a easy solution. This is what my tech blog did. Defined the problem and provide the tested solution.

When it came to doing the same this for gaming, a few things were realized and it was hard thing to get going. I found that when I was playing games and had any issues, I wasn't concerned about documenting the solution, I just wanted to get back to gaming. And that was another thing. Due to work commitments, finding to time play game was often limited to weekends and I wasn't thinking about blogging.

Since then I have turned Bloodshot Eyes into a site where it was all about gaming. Not focused on tips, but news and other gaming topics that took my interested. My vision for the site becoming a community I have realized would need a lot of full-time commitment which I don't have the time for. Doing Twitch streaming under the brand would require a schedule if I was to be able to gain any viewers is something I can't commit to.

So what's the purpose?

I love gaming. I love discussing it and I love sharing. So that is what I will continue to do no matter how little the audience may be. I will continue to make posts about the industry and the products we are getting out of it and what we hope to see in the future.

Gaming is bigger than what a lot of people see it as and I would like to be apart of it. And this is it. My site. Bloodshot Eyes. And as it grows, I hope that my friends continue to find an interest to help contribute to its growth.

Early Access Games aren't helping anyone

During the 90s of PC gaming, we used to buy Magazines to get the demo discs to try the games that were coming our way or even try games that were already released. Demos then were a sample of the game the game to a certain point. Some times it was just a level, sometimes it was almost a full game. I remember playing some demos as it was enough enjoyment without buying the full game.

Other ways to get your hands on games before their release was to get involved in the beta testing. This used to be a stage of the development process that was used to iron out some of the last bugs of the game, but it was more or less feature completed. However this beta stage has today become a part of the sale of the game.

Steam Early Access is a method for gamers to buy a game that is not considered release but allows them to get to play the game understanding that there are still bugs and it is still being developed. But should gamers be buying software that is still under development?

There are arguments that this provides the additional financial support for developers to continue working on the game to make it to point to finish and publish the game. Also it can be said Early Access could benefit the gamers. If they make the initial investment, they might be able get discounts or even get the end product for free.

But what we are seeing is that Early Access has become grounds for poor quality games and often projects that never come to light. According to a GamesIndurstry report, only 25% of Early Access games make it to release. Developers start Early Access projects, take the money and run as seemed to be the case for the developers of the game Towns. Essentially ripping off the gamers.

DayZ is another example of a Early Access game that people have endorsed, however has for a long time shown signs that it will never leave the "In Development" category. The DayZ Standalone game was supposed to the evolution of the popular mod to ARMA II. It made over $5 million on its first day when released on Steam Early Access.

In recent months, DayZ has seen a decline in players. This is worrying trend for the game as those in the community are no longer defending the excuse that it is Early Access. Development of the game has not shown much evidence that the core issues with the game being resolved, and only trivial additions to the game are being made (i.e. Character Clothing).

So for games like where DayZ had a huge following, lots of hype before release and then a faithful community after release who paid real money to have the early access to give developers a good amount of money to support continued development of the game, where are we today? Not far from when it was released.

There are other stories to suggest that Early Access isn't what it seems. YouTuber Jim Stearling has experienced much of the worst of these developers due to his critical reviews of some of the games that have made it to Early Access. I have provided a link to the video he did regarding the awful behavior of one Early Access developer who demonstrated a clear example of what the Early Access store has become.

It is becoming a big thing for gaming reviewers to beg their viewers to not buy from Early Access. And for good reason. With bad quality games, unprofessional developers and games not continuing to completion, is it really worth your money now? No it really isn't. While there might be some legitimate games being developed with honest developers that could use the financial assistance, Early Access is the wrong way to go about this. Save your money and promote completed and published games worth your money.

Twitch: Subscribing to Streamers

I have been watching Twitch Streams since the site started and have been a big fan of the site and what it accomplishes by bring people together through community and common interests.

Most of these streamers have made the site their job by earning money from their time streaming their game play which is pretty decent achievement. Though there are many ways to provide money and support to streamers, the main one is through a subscription.

Twitch.tv Follow and Subscribe Buttons

By Subscribing to a streamer, you will be paying them the designated amount (often is US$4.99) every month you are a subscriber. But what do you get from being a subscriber?

  • The warm, fuzzy feeling
That little feeling that you're helping someone make this their work. While this doesn't seem like much, it is much of the most you will actually get from subing.
  • Some special icons
Most streamers offer extra emoicons to use in their chat. If you are apart of the chat often, this might be a bonus for you to stand out from those filthy casuals.
  • Playing with the streamer
Some streamer will offer the changes for those who subscribe to them to actually join them in their game and therefore their stream. This is mostly for multiplayer games which you might get a kick out of. However note that this isn't guarenteed, more of just a luck of the draw.
  • Addition interaction with the streamer
Some streamers will offer special stream sessions or priority sessions for their streamers only.
  • And more...
It is up to the streamers themselves what they offer to their Subscribers and whether it is really worth you hard earnt money every month.

Take time to decide who you want to subscribe to as subscribing to a lot of streamers could soon start costing you a lot of money each month. One subscription is only for one streamer. Each additional subscription you start is another additional charge to you each month.

You can cancel your subscription at anytime however there are no refunds. If you cancel your subscription during the month, then it just means you won't be resubscribing at the end of the month and you are simply canceling it and losing your subscription benefits.

For some, subscribing and supporting your favourite streamer is a very rewarding experience and for others it can be a big waste of money. Make sure that your favourites provide good rewards for subing, and that they continue your recognition of your payments and support.

SimCity could have tried harder with shop names

I have been playing SimCity for a long time now but only recently have I had a detailed look at the city's buildings.

I have found that the stores mainly have some generic name like "The Big Store" or "Fast Food", while the object details will have an actual store name.

I feel that Maxis could have spent a bit of time think of some more detailed or "entertaining" names for these generic stores. While I do understand they might not be able to create a shop design for every single shop name they thought of, but "Cheap Business" is just not trying.

Here are some screenshots I came up with from the game.

What are your thoughts? Could the developers done this differently? Comment below.

Review: Game Dev Tycoon

Game Dev Tycoon is a simple but hugely addictive game which has started and grow your own game development company.

I once saw this game on the Android and not sure if it is the same people, but found this  game really fun since I am a gamer myself.

The beginnings of 'Buzza Games'

You start in your garage in the 1980s and you begin to devleop games on your own for PCs and older consoles at the time. (I also notice the very fimilar car in the garage).

As you progress in the game and time, the type of games you develop expand and the consoles and platforms you develop for increase. You are in charge with the combo of game types like whether you desgin a City/Simulation game, Military/Action game or whatever you like. You gain more sales of you game that you develop with better and fun combinations.

As you go you move to a small office and then eventually to your own campus. As you expand, you hire employees and coders to help you develop better games quickly.

The challenge in this game is getting the combination of game right as well as selecting the right amount of time allocated to the features to be developed for that game. If you are developing a Zombie/Action game, then focus on game dialog is less important than graphics and sounds. As you continue on you get to also develop your very own gaming engine which helps with graphic leveling, features like open world and tree dialogs.

I have found this game oddly addictive and did end up finishing the game in about 5 hours. The challenges and the excitment of building your own game and see it sell over millions of copies in its first week is very exciting and awarding. But the devestation in putting hard work into game and see if fail with you fans is hard-hitting. Once you complete and release your game, the game is immediately reviewed by game critics who score you game out of 10. I class my game a winner anything over 5, but I found that I would either average 3 with a bad game or average 8 with a good game.

This game is currently available on Steam and on the Windows Store. I can tell this has been developed to be touch friendly, and even their website shows the game on a Surface tablet.

Good Old Games

Remember playing some old games as back in the day as computer gaming was just getting off the ground and thinking of a way to relive that awesome vintage experience. There are multiple ways these days for you to bring back the classic games you loved to play.

Good Old Games

GoodOldGames (gog.com) is a great site. The guys behind this site aim to bring back the old games you loved with an easy to use site, which allows to you download and run pre-packaged games which ensure that they run on your current operating system.

While some games will run natively despite their ages, Good Old Games have tested and created packages that ensure the game will run with minimal fuss while maintain the original experince of the game. Some games have been pre-packaged in a DOSBox (emulation software) meaning they have done the hard work for you so you can get straight to the game.

The account system means that you buy once, download anytime. This also means that you can download the PC and MAC versions as need (as they're available).

If you're looking for the easier way to play the classics, this is my first stop.

Steam

As you probably already have seen, Steam has a large array of game downloads including the classics. As any other Steam game, this is added against your account and can be downloaded at any point.

Most classic games here are as they are. Another great resource for classic games,

DOSBox

DOSBox is a x86 emulator that allows you to install and run any DOS-based application in an emulated, sandboxed environment. This means that if you already have your classic games, you can install them to your DOSBox and get playing with minimal fuss.

DOSBox is available on almost all platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, BSD etc) with custom frontends, and language translations available.

Virtual Machines

The last option which I can offer is to setup a virtual machine. This will require a bit more leg work on your side, but this will also give you the most genuine experience (without setting up old computer hardware).

Virtual Machine is a virtual computer running on a existing system. This means you and install and run any operating system, on top of an existing system without interaction.

Using the open source software VirtualBox (no relation to DOSBox) allows to create virtual machines with a wide range of supported operating systems from Windows and Linux. Simply setup a DOS or Windows 9x virtual machine and install your game.

Note: You will need the operating system media and product key to setup a virtual machine.

Conclusion

With all these options and tools available, you are able to play pretty much all your favorite classic games without problems.

XBOX SmartGlass

Back at E3 2012, XBOX showed us a great new technology called SmartGlass. This new technology would allow mobiles, tablets and PCs to connect to the XBOX and provide extended content relating to what was going on the console. So where are we at with that?

http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/smartglass

With SmartGlass almost turning 1, I came to think that it had gone quiet on that front and I hadn't heard or seen games promoting their compatibility with the service. So I have discovered a list of the current supported titles and services for SmartGlass.

App for Download

Here are the links to the XBOX SmartGlass app for the available platforms

Google Android - http://goo.gl/eEy31
Apple iOS - http://goo.gl/88y1W

The Sims 4

So a new generation of god-like control over digital "beings" is about to hit our computers... The Sims 4.

The Sims originally hit our computers back in 2000 and since then has grown into a almost life like experience in control.
v
Not much has been release regarding the new release, however it seems that Maxis has learnt from the disaster that was SimCity which had it's problem over Always Online. Sims 4 will be available offline.

See post: http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/05/06/the-sims-4-officially-announced-currently-allows-offline-play/

And... We're Back!

So I finally did it. I got the site working again.

Since my internet at home is in not future being restored (that's right I was hosting it at home), I finally got the time to work on moving the site to a better hosted facility. Bloodshot Eyes is now hosted by Blogger. I have personally been using Blogger for years, and while some don't like it, I think it is one of the better blogging engines online.

And now BSE is back online. Because of this, I will be able to get back to write more article and getting more content for everyone.

While this is still in beginning stages, you may find a broke image here and there. Please let me know and I will be fixing them up over the next few days.

Thank you everyone for your support and get gaming!

We're Sorry :(

Hi All,

I'm Daniel, the admin and founder of Bloodshot Eyes. Some of you may have noticed recently that the site has experience some significant down time. I will explain.

Since the start of the site, I have been hosting the website myself at home. Reason for this is that at the time I want to see where the site would go and how popular it would get. So over the past year it has gain in popularity and I have been getting some feedback.

Unfortunately though for me my home internet has gone to shit and pretty much is unusable. I am currently in the process of implementing a better solution with a different provider. Little did I know when signing up, they were experiencing a big order processing issues. Two week on, I still have no internet at home.

So I have created this blogger site, for the meantime to explain where I am at. I will be looking into alternative hosting solutions and we will do a big launch for when the site gets restored.

Until then, please follow us on Twitter and Facebook and keep gaming.

-Daniel
